My Easter Mantle

I got the book idea from my good friend Kelli P.  I couldn't find antique books so I went with the traditional Easter books, THE BIBLE and Velveteen Rabbit:)  Again, sorry about my obsession with Pottery Barn and flameless candles.  Let me know what you think or if you would change anything.  I'm very new at the decorating thing and try my best. I like to steal ideas from other bloggers of course;)

Cascarones (Confetti Eggs)

Making Cascarones is a Mexican tradition that has been passed on in my family for many years.  I first made them with my Papo and Nana around their kitchen table every year for Easter.  All the cousins would be there and we couldn't wait to smash them on each other's head the next day.    Then I would make them with my parents and my sister.  We would save our shells for weeks before Easter.  Now I make them with my daughters:)  My grandparent's would be proud!

Step 1~ Break the eggs gentle at the tip with a knife over a bowl

Step 2~ Empty them and clean them

Step 3~  Dye and Dry them

Step 4~ Fill them with confetti and glue tissue on top

Step Five~ Sneak up on a friend or a family member and break the egg on their head.  It's super fun, believe me!
Happy Easter and may you always carry on traditions:)

My Spring Garden Project

Step 1~  Clean the side of my house.  Put together raised bed kit (bought @ Sam's).  Add garden soil.

Step 2~ Put garden seed kit down (bought @ Sam's).  Put solar lights in so that i can go sit by my garden @ night:)

Step 3~ Water and watch it grow.

Step 4~  I decided I wanted more (of course).  So I added an AC cover and stepping stones.  Use the weed barrier and add recycled stepping stones.

Step 5~ Add some decorative potted plants.  Including Mexican Lavender, Mandavela, and red Butterfly.

Step 6~ Add river rocks!

VOILA!!!!!!
